29th October 2024: Vodacom Tanzania, the Leading technology and Communication Company, has announced that it has undertaken major overhaul in its critical intelligent network infrastructure in a bid to ensure resilient connection to its customers in the future.

Announcing the move, the company’s Managing Director Philip Besiimire said that Vodacom is committed to leading in innovation and continuously improving the quality of services it provides, “in order to stay at the cutting edge of technology and offer our customers the best possible experience, we have invested in significant infrastructure upgrades across our network,” he noted.

This move is crucial as it prepares the nation and firms customers in bringing capabilities that will support advancements such as Artificial Intelligence which meant to enhance Customer’s experience. 

Besiimire detailed that the upgrades are designed to enhance speed, reliability, and connectivity, ensuring that the services remain robust and future-ready as demand grows. While these efforts represent a major leap forward, they also involve a complex process that may cause occasional disruptions to service in certain areas. 

“We apologize for any inconvenience this has had on customer experience and assure our customers that we are working diligently to keep disruptions to a minimum. This exercise is planned to conclude by mid-November, after which we expect a stronger, more resilient network to benefit all our customers,” he said while adding that his team is committed to keep the public informed throughout this period and providing all the support they might need.

In parallel with these upgrade, there has been network upgrades and expansions across the country as the company fortifies its network. The company’s Network Director Andrew Lupembe hinted that Vodacom Tanzania is making substantial investments to expand and fortify our network. 

“So far we have used 96% of the set budget for network infrastructure, first, we have densified our fibre footprint through NICTBB investment and Africa One as well. We have also increased capacity of our sites and rolled out new sites in Tanzania mainland and isles, he said.

Lupembe added that all the investments made, combined with the ongoing stabilization of the company’s systems, will result in stronger, more reliable service in the coming weeks. “Our customers can look forward to faster speeds, enhanced network security and a seamless connectivity experience,” he concluded.
