East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) member Shy-Rose Bhanji has strongly refuted allegations against her that were late last week published by a Rwandan newspaper, the New Times of Rwanda.
The esteemed Tanzania representative in the EALA discredited the allegations, also posted on social media networks, as a ploy to stain not only her image but also undermine Tanzania’s position in the regional bloc.
“These allegations bear no truth whatsoever and are designed not only to destroy my reputation and influence in the EALA,” she said in a press release.
“I have always been a thorn in their flesh on issues that are against the interest of Tanzanians,” explains the EALA member who pledged not to be dissuaded by the unfounded and scandalous claims but rather, said she will continue to defend Tanzania’s interests.
“These allegations have been brought up just ahead of our EALA’s session in Rwanda,” she pointed out noting that the timing speaks of the motives behind the accusations.
“They want to intimidate and destruct me…and cause hatred between the leaderships and people of the EAC,” she said and declared she will not to be swayed from the paramount matters at hand.
