DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA: SanlamAllianz has officially unveiled its new brand in Tanzania, marking a significant milestone in its mission to expand access to financial and insurance services across the country. The launch follows the 2023 strategic alliance between Sanlam and Allianz—two global leaders in insurance—forming Africa’s largest non-banking financial services company.Speaking during the launch event held in Dar es Salaam, industry stakeholders highlighted the critical role the partnership is expected to play in transforming Tanzania’s insurance landscape by offering a broader range of solutions backed by both global expertise and local market understanding.
Ahead of the official brand unveiling, SanlamAllianz had already begun engaging communities through social support initiatives. Through its local outreach campaign featuring its recognizable “Mr. Bluu” ambassadors, the company provided direct assistance to more than 145 Tanzanians. These included support for women entrepreneurs, healthcare assistance, and transportation subsidies.
More than 30 women running small businesses in Kariakoo, Makumbusho, and Kawe received business capital to help strengthen their income-generating activities. Additionally, medical expenses for 40 individuals were fully covered, while more than 75 public transport passengers in Tandika and Mbagala had their fares paid as part of the goodwill initiative.
“These efforts demonstrate our commitment to empowering the communities we serve, even before formally launching our new identity,” said a company representative.
The launch event was graced by Guest of Honour Dr. Baghayo A. Saqware, Commissioner of Insurance at the Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA). Dr. Saqware commended the establishment of SanlamAllianz, emphasizing the importance of increasing insurance penetration in the country and enhancing trust and value for consumers. With the introduction of SanlamAllianz General Insurance Tanzania Ltd and SanlamAllianz Life Insurance Tanzania Ltd, the company is set to deliver a comprehensive suite of insurance and financial protection solutions.
