DStv audiences are invited to Ghana, Uganda, Zambia, Swaziland and Zanzibar this week as M-Net's STUDIO 53 makes stopovers at these destinations during the latest episode of the lifestyle program! First stop is Ghana where the National Theatre in Accra was swarming with movie watchers, to catch a glimpse of Shirley Frimpong Mansu’s new movie – Life & Living It .
The film, features an all star cast: Chris Attoh (Mnet’s Big Brother Africa presenter), Nana Osei Kwame Sarpong (Mnet Survivor Africa star) Rama Brew and Brew Riverson Jnr.
STUDIO 53’s Anita found out that the idea behind Life and Living It was birthed out of Shirley Innate’s desire to showcase the all angles of single, married and committed life.
Next it’s off to Kampala, where the Spectrum, a 5 star restaurant, at Theatre La Bonita recently opened. The restaurant was launched on December 18, 2007 and is situated on the same floor as theatre La Bonita. It features a variety of cuisines from Asia, Middle East, Europe, USA, China, India and the best of local and traditional dishes. The buffet will integrates a hot active station that allows the guests to select and make great food combinations of their choice and direct the cooking when they wish.
STUDIO 53’s Gaetano felt as though he was on cloud nine, with so much to choose from. Then STUDIO 53’s Chishala speaks Zambian sculptor Eddie Mumba to find out how his journey as an artist began.
He has also been strongly involved with the development of visual arts in Zambia for the past 26 years. Apart from being one of Zambia's top artists he has also been a founding member and vice-chairman of the Zambian National Visual Arts Council. He has exhibited in the U.K., Germany, China, Sweden, Canada, and in many African countries.
Also on the show STUDIO 53’s Sithandwa takes DStv audiences around Swaziland. Capital city Mbabane is the perfect central place to be if one wants to visit the many attractions this mountain kingdom has to offer and the best thing is that they are all half an hour from the capital. Lastly STUDIO 53 takes DStv audiences to Zanzibar, hotels in Stone Town, generally stick to the theme of original Zanzibari antiques.
Where these varied origins and styles together create the impressions of Arabian Nights and sultan princesses escaping in the dead of the night for romance. The Zanzibar Hand Craft Garden is a group of 18 artisans that have come together to try to promote their craft with locals and tourists alike.
The artisans here work in coconut wood, mahogany and teak. The beauty of Zanzibar furniture is in its intricate detail of handcrafted workmanship. Fareed went on a mission to find out more about the uniqueness and fusion of art in this wonderful technique…
DStv audiences in East and West Africa can watch STUDIO 53 on M-NET on Thursday March 27 at 19:30 CAT and on M-Net Series on Saturday March 29 at 18:00 CAT.
