The cleaner Production Centre of Tanzania (CPCT) dealing with Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP) has conducted training on RECP to all manufacturing industries in Tanzania.
The training was aiming at minimizing of Energy use, Water use, Profitable production, Lowest possible pollution of environment - Particularly Lake Victoria under Lake Victoria Environment Project (LVEMP II).
In this regard CPCT conducted RECP Award Competition for Lake Zone in which 63 manufacturing industries participate among them was Mutex - Musoma Textile Mills (T) Ltd, a subsidiary of MeTL group of Companies.
Out of 63 participants, 10 contestants were short listed for 4 categories, unto which MUTEX emerged SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT WINNER 2013.
Verification team was comprised of East African members on Cleaner Production, which are Uganda Cleaner Production Centre, Kenya National Cleaner Production Centre, Cleaner Production Centre of Tanzania and OSHA officials.
The ceremony was conducted in Mwanza on 28th June, 2013 by CPCT, under Ministry of Water and Irrigation, headed by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry where the Chief Guest was Hon. Minister of State for Enviornment in the Vice President ‘s Office Hon Dr. Therezya Huvisa.
NEMC and Lake Victoria Environmental Project (East Africa) Officials also attended.
