Today is World Press Freedom Day.
There has never been a more important time for you
to support quality journalism worldwide.
ICFJ is training citizens to use cell phones to give voice to local issues.
In a rural village in India, the government stopped delivering food to malnourished children. A local resident, Savita Rath, reported the news on ICFJ´s mobile news service, a communications tool that empowers citizens in isolated regions to spread the word about critical issues in their own language.
Within 24 hours, officials hand-delivered cooked food to the village children. Why? Rath's report prompted people from the region – and around the world – to flood government administrators with complaints. Now, the government has restored food delivery to the kids.

This innovative news service shows the power of journalism to change lives for the better. We hope you will join our efforts by making acontribution.
With your help we can do so much more...You can make it possible for us to develop new programs that reach more professional and citizen journalists around the world than ever before. We deeply appreciate your backing.
Warmly,
