Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGM) confirms that one of its employees has been charged today in connection with the death of a 14 year old child who was tragically killed in a fall from a mining bench in the Nyankanga Pit on the morning of 23 May 2013.

The GGM employee is charged with manslaughter; he is currently in custody and will be released on bail shortly.

The death of anyone on its concession is something GGM takes very seriously. An internal investigation is also underway and GGM will continue to cooperate fully with the Tanzania Police Force in its investigations.
