The Month of Women Entrepreneurs Committee in collaboration with the International Labor Organization’s Women Entrepreneurship Development and Economic Empowerment Project (YEF-WEDEE) and WAMA Foundation is once again organizing the Month of Women Entrepreneurs (MOWE 2012) to promote the Decent Work Agenda, women entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship as a source of employment to men and women including the young people of Tanzania.
The MOWE 2012 is organized to call upon the Government, private sector, the United Nations and the public of Tanzania to promote entrepreneurship among young women in the country. This event will carry a theme - “Msichana Amka, Ujasiriamali ni Ajira” – which encourages young women to opt for entrepreneurship as a career and a source of employment
Planned Activities.
Women’s Night- Fundraising Barbeque “USIKU WA MWANAMKE” to be held on Friday October 26, 2012 from 1900 to 2200hours at the Dar Es Salaam Serena Hotel.
This event will bring together women leaders, spouses of leaders and former leaders of Tanzania, Women CEOs from various organizations, institutions and companies. The event will also attract the participation of Women Representatives, Spouses of UN Organizations and Embassies as well as Women Entrepreneurs. The Women’s Nit will provide a unique opportunity for women and women leaders to meet and share experiences on issues regarding leadership, entrepreneurship and family affairs outside the formal/office setting. The event will bring on board guests/motivational speakers to lead discussions on various issues of concern to women, women leaders and entrepreneurs of Tanzania.
Topics for discussions will include leadership, work/life balance, building networks, advocacy and support promotion of entrepreneurship for young women.
The guest of honor for the Women’s Night is expected to be the First Lady Her Excellence Hon. Salma Kikwete, the wife of the president of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Chairperson of the WAMA Foundation. This event will also be used as an opportunity to advocate, support and recognize the role of women entrepreneurs in the socio-economic development of our country.
MOWE Exhibitions
MOWE Exhibitions provides a great opportunity to showcase what thousands of women membership organizations and individual women entrepreneurs are already doing to help foster a culture that embraces innovation, imagination and creativity. A market fair and exhibition is planned as a show-case to promote participant’s products and enterprises A combination of participatory and interactive methodologies will be used to facilitate learning and sharing of knowledge and experiences. The week long exhibitions will be held is will be at the Mnazi Mmoja Grounds in Dar Es Salaam, from October 29 to November 04, 2012. The events are set to bring together 150 women entrepreneurs from Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar as well as women entrepreneurs from neighboring countries of Malawi.
Who can participate in MOWE?
Individuals and organizations can participate as corporate sponsors and or participants to the exhibitions and the Women’s Night events. Benefits from participating to MOWE events include visibility through publicity and media promotions, networking and learning from experienced business and entrepreneurs across sectors, marketing and exhibitions of ones products and services.
